Contributions, volunteerism and going green.
At Western Bank, we believe that our unique role in serving our Twin Cities customers goes far beyond offering personal service and cost-effective financial products. We believe it is critical that we all work together to revitalize our urban communities.
Western Bank was recognized again this year as a Minnesota Keystone Company. The Minnesota Keystone Program recognizes and honors companies that donate at least 2% of their pre-tax earnings to the community. Western Bank has contributed at the 5% level which includes 2% of pre-tax earnings plus other in-kind donations. Western Bank has been a part of the Minnesota Keystone Program since 1990.
In addition to Keystone recognition, Western Bank’s last Community Reinvestment Act exam resulted in an “Outstanding” rating.
Western Bank’s community involvement goes beyond financial contributions. At Western Bank we encourage our employees to personally become involved in civic and community organizations or activities that positively enhance our communities. We promote opportunities that help meet needs in the area of economic development, such as immigrant entrepreneurs, job creation/training, and affordable housing. We also promote the need for volunteers that our non-profit customers have. We occasionally send out mailers to our non-profit customers to announce our volunteer program and welcome them to come to us when they need volunteers. This is just one extra way to show customers our support and remind them of the many value added services Western Bank provides.
At Western Bank, we understand the importance of protecting the environment in which we live. From recycling to constructing new buildings with green initiatives (like our St. Paul and Oakdale locations) we are always open to promoting new ways that help the communities we serve be more environmentally conscious.
